Safety is a priority for your pet that undergoes anesthesia at the Page Animal Hospital. While no one can claim that anesthesia is risk free, there are certain steps that can be taken to lessen the dangers. We use the safest anesthesia protocols available to veterinarians.
Thorough examinations are performed on each pet. Preanesthesia blood testing to ensure safety is offered and intravenous fluids are administered to maintain normal blood pressure
One of the most helpful tools we have are anesthesia monitors. These are attached to your pet throughout any procedure so that we may monitor such vital statistics as heart rate, oxygen levels, carbon dioxide levels, and electrocardiogram activity (ECGs). If any abnormality is detected by these monitors, we are able to take corrective action before a real danger occurs. We do everything in our power to ensure that your pet’s anesthetic and surgical procedures are as safe as possible.
