Bret “The Vet” Miller, DVM

Major Bret Miller, DVM
U.S. Army Veterinary Corps (Veteran)

Dr. Bret Miller was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His interest in animals grew during his childhood in Clinton, Iowa through caring for multiple family dogs and various farm animals. He fondly remembers showing Brown Swiss dairy heifers at county fairs. He spent his teenage years in Appleton, WI playing baseball and football and graduated from Appleton North High School. After high school, he served a two year mission in Germany and Austria for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and still speaks German.

Dr. Miller attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Brigham Young University – Idaho in 2008 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2012 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He was commissioned into the US Army during veterinary school via the Health Professional Scholarship Program. After graduating the AMEDD Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Sam Houston in October 2012, he was assigned as the Officer-in-Charge of the Holloman Air Force Base Veterinary Treatment Facility of Public Health Command District Carson. During this assignment, Dr. Miller enjoyed interacting with his German Air Force clients and hunting and fishing in the Sacramento Mountains. After graduating from Captains Career Course in May 2015, he was assigned as Chief of the Stuttgart Branch Veterinary Treatment Facility of Public Health Activity Rheinland-Pfalz located close to Stuttgart Germany. He and his family took advantage of this opportunity by touring local European countries and thoroughly enjoying the various cultures and foods. The thing that Dr. Miller will miss the most from his Active Duty service will be working with our nation’s greatest heroes, the Military Working Dogs.

Dr. Miller is happily married to his wife Charise of 11 years and has a nine year old son named Cooper, a seven year old daughter named Lynndon, a 5 year old son named McCoy, and a 5 month old daughter named Piper. He considers his family to be his greatest accomplishment!

Dr. Miller and his family are looking forward to settling down and hope to serve the Page, AZ community for a long time! He has a special interest in surgery and hopes to expand his knowledge to better serve the needs of the community. He also hopes to return to large animal medicine, which originally made him interested in becoming a veterinarian, and expand services in that area.

Hailey Neppl

Hailey joined our team here at Page Animal Hospital in January 2020, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge about both domestic and exotic animals.

Hailey is a native Utahn, born and raised in Hurricane until, at age 17, she and her parents moved to Hawaii when her mom accepted a new career assignment. Following her lifelong passion of working with animals, Hailey soon found herself employed at a large animal veterinary hospital as an animal technician for about three years. Subsequently, Hailey worked as a tour guide on a snorkel boat educating visitors about the ocean, the marine life with a focus on wild dolphins and manta rays.

Hawaii is certainly one of the most beautiful places in the world, but Hailey missed the snowy mountains of her home state of Utah, so returned and joined her best friend who lives in Page, AZ and who led her to our team here at Page Animal Hospital.

Horses are Hailey’s forte. She spent some time working as a jockey on a racetrack where she was responsible for breaking in and training 2-year-old horses, then jockeyed them for 3 months before releasing them to larger tracks. Currently, Hailey has about 18 months left of school remaining for equine facial reconstruction, after which it is her ambition to start her own business for this specialty.

Hailey shares her home with two dogs; a large dog named Forrest and a Yorkie name Dolly, who was rescued from a puppy mill by a friend of Hailey’s. Dolly was originally a foster. . .but we all know how that goes! Hailey also has a cat with the unusual name of “Orange Chicken”. Orange Chicken arrived at the Page Animal Hospital as a two-week old kitten with a broken leg that sadly needed amputation. Knowing he did not have a home to return to, Hailey adopted him and named him Orange Chicken because his tiny frame reminded her of a nugget.

Hailey loves the small-town atmosphere of Page, AZ with its nearby lake and beautiful scenery. Outside of work Hailey loves snow boarding, wake boarding, hiking and off roading.
